The legislation regarding migration in Ecuador has changed over the last years, in a movement that can be understood under the securitization idea. This approach considers that a subject can be understood as a matter of security if one considers it to be a threat, such as migration. Moreover, the reception of migrants scaled from a position of free of movement and protections of human right to the eye of State defense and boundaries security.
