Celebrating World Diabetes Day At Sudanese Childhood Diabetes Association




Diabetes is a chronic condition that develop when the body either produces insufficient insulin or cannot properly utilize the insulin that is produced.

From an inner perspective , Sudan is one of the countries that are famous with childhood diabetes , this makes Sudan among the highest rate groups in the world & Africa, in which more than 10.000 child in Sudan have diabetes.

In Sudan Sudanese Childhood Diabetes Association plays a major role in managing and responding to childhood diabetes, through providing insulin for free and glucose meters in Khartoum and other states, the association also provides social support for children and their families and empower children and youth through social activities as they are the future leaders.

Sudanese Childhood Diabetes Association was actually established in 2003, its formulation was a coordination of diabetes care specialists, social leaders and families of diabetic children.

World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus and is held on 14 November each year, communities all around the nation come together to raise awareness of diabetes mellitus.

World Diabetes Day 2022 focuses on diabetes care highlighting the importance of the access to quality diabetes education under the theme of Education to protect tomorrow.

The Sudanese Childhood Diabetes Association celebrates the World Diabetes Day in an attempt to draw the attention of the Sudanese society, to the issue of children with diabetes and their needs that need attention from societies , government & all local & international bodies that could provide support on the following sector.

This year Sudanese Childhood Diabetes Association celebrated the World Diabetes Day in different ways, as they implemented awareness campaign in different Schools, promoting health education for children and teachers, also they organized a charity event which includes entertainment programs and educational exhibitions, finally they organized a symposium under the title Diabetes and Education to facilitate education for health care workers, as education is the main pillar of achieving sustainable development.
