Urbanization in Namibia has surged due to rural-urban migration and natural population growth, particularly in Windhoek. This transformation presents unique challenges, including housing shortages, infrastructure needs, social disparities, and environmental concerns. The government is actively working to address these issues and promote sustainable urban development. Urbanization has been on the rise in Namibia since independence in 1990, driven by multiple factors, including improved living conditions. This article explores the complexities of urbanization in Namibia, with a spotlight on Windhoek, the capital city.
