Inequality in health is an urgent social justice issue. Inequity implies the idea of injustice and of not having acted to avoid preventable differences. The increase in social inequalities is expressed in health conditions, almost always to the detriment of the poor and more pronounced with indicators of poor health. The explanation of the origin of inequities in health is usually based on three theoretical perspectives that propose divergent approaches for not mutually exclusive.Health inequity is anchored in political and social reality. Its origin is in stratification and power relations. In order to face them, in addition to targeted interventions, profound changes at the structural level are required.
