Summary
Despite the vital role, those seeking to promote human rights confront great challenges in their work, particularly in a context where some countries are reported to have “serious civic space restrictions.” In addition to threats to their lives, human rights defenders regularly face detention, enforced disappearance, surveillance, criminalization, and other grave risks with the aim of hindering, their work. This article examines the challenges faced by Human Right activists, ways to remedy the challenges and the importance of protecting human right activists.
