SUMMARY

The right to education is a basic and vital human right that is a part of international laws. It is guaranteed by Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that "Everyone has the right to education." This right is also guaranteed by the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which states that "The States Parties to the present Covenant recognize the right of everyone to education."

Despite the legal guarantees of the right to education, millions of children and adults around the world are denied access to education. There are many reasons why people are denied the right to education, including poverty, discrimination, conflict, and natural disasters.
